Mental Health First Aid; the impact of mental health in the Jacksonville community, the resources available and how to get involved.
Ann-Marie Knight, MHA, FACHE, Operations Administrator, Community Engagement, Mayo Clinic
Ann-Marie serves as Administrator, Community Relations where she partners with physician leaders to develop activities where Mayo Clinic can contribute to the community’s wellness through collaboration and outreach. Prior to this role, Ms. Knight managed the operational needs of the Department of Surgery, Critical Care Medicine Unit and Hospital Internal Medicine Unit, to name a few.
With over 17 years of experience in the areas of strategic planning, financial management, and operations management both in the inpatient and outpatient practice settings, she attributes her professional acumen to her 24 years of Naval Service in which she retired as a seasoned Lieutenant as a Medical Service Corps Officer. Her service tours included roles as Deputy Comptroller and Department Head, Access and Benefits and Administrative Officer for several outpatient practices and various assignments during the enlisted days of her career. Immediately following her military service, Ann-Marie had the pleasure of serving as Administrative Officer for the VA Clinic in Jacksonville Florida.
Ms. Knight earned her Bachelors of Business (Finance) from University of North Florida and her Masters in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University. Since 2006 she has served as a Preceptor for UF and UNF BHA and MHA students. Her list of professional certifications include, but are not limited to; Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives and Certified, Lean Six Sigma, Black Belt for the Department of the Navy. These skills and ability to work collaborative are essential to her current role in community relations and outreach.
Ms. Knight has membership in multiple local professional organizations and non-profit agencies. She has served the North Florida Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2005, to include the role of president. Her nonprofit leadership includes board membership on the Non-Profit Center of NE Florida and Sulzbacher Center.
Mentorship and volunteerism is a passion for her which has resulted in her involvement as a mentor for both City Year and Big Brothers Big Sister’s Beyond School Walls program. She is an active volunteer with the United Way and is the 2017-2018 Chair for Women Unity, United Way’s women leader affinity group.
In 2015, Ms. Knight received the Regent’s Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives and was recently a Veteran of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal and is a graduate of the Leadership Jacksonville 2016 class. Her military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, multiple Navy Commendation and Achievement Medals, and numerous other medals, certificates, and recognitions.
Ann-Marie is married to Garfield Knight and they have two young men; Javon and Karl.
